KUMPUL and KUMPUL Impact have welcomed Rudiantara, former Minister of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (2014–2019), as Advisor. His appointment builds on a relationship spanning more than a decade and a shared commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s digital economy and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
As an Indonesian entrepreneurship ecosystem enabler, KUMPUL connects startups, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), investors, corporations, and other stakeholders with resources, networks, and market opportunities. Alongside KUMPUL Impact, which focuses on inclusive and sustainable economic growth, the organization continues to advance collaboration across sectors.
With experience spanning government, telecommunications, and business, Rudiantara brings strategic perspectives on the development of Indonesia’s digital economy and the importance of building a more interconnected entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Rudiantara’s Longstanding Connection with KUMPUL
Rudiantara’s involvement with KUMPUL dates back more than ten years, when the organization was developing its presence within Indonesia’s emerging startup ecosystem in Bali.
During his tenure as Minister of Communication and Information Technology from 2014 to 2019, Indonesia’s digital economy was undergoing significant development. Supporting the growth of technology-driven businesses required building an ecosystem where entrepreneurs could access the capabilities, resources, and networks needed to succeed.
In a recent interview, Rudiantara reflected on KUMPUL’s contribution to these early efforts.
“KUMPUL helped me develop Indonesia’s digital economy ecosystem at the time,” Rudiantara recalled.
He highlighted several elements essential to startup development, including access to talent, financing, business capabilities, and investment opportunities. For emerging entrepreneurs, developing an innovative product was only one part of building a sustainable business.
Rudiantara recognized KUMPUL as one of the organizations actively helping startups navigate these challenges. His appointment as Advisor continues a longstanding relationship grounded in a shared understanding of Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and its evolving needs.
Why Rudiantara’s Appointment Matters for KUMPUL and KUMPUL Impact
Rudiantara’s appointment reflects a shared perspective on how Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem can become more connected, collaborative, and capable of supporting sustainable business growth.
For many startups and MSMEs, challenges rarely exist in isolation. Limited access to financing may coincide with difficulties entering new markets, finding qualified talent, or establishing strategic partnerships. Addressing these interconnected barriers requires collaboration among businesses, government institutions, investors, and ecosystem enablers.
This approach is central to KUMPUL’s work in connecting entrepreneurs with resources, capital, and opportunities across Indonesia and international markets. Through KUMPUL Impact, these efforts also extend to strengthening inclusive economic participation and supporting businesses and communities in creating sustainable impact.
Faye Wongso, Founder & Chairperson of KUMPUL and KUMPUL Impact, emphasized the value of Rudiantara’s experience in supporting the organizations’ long-term direction.
“With his extensive experience and deep understanding of Indonesia’s digital economy and startup ecosystem, we believe his perspectives will bring meaningful value to our journey ahead.
For us, building an ecosystem is not simply about creating more initiatives, but also about ensuring that every part of it is connected and able to grow together.”
His involvement brings additional experience and strategic insights as both organizations continue strengthening partnerships and expanding opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Advancing Indonesia’s Digital Economy Through Stronger Ecosystem Connections
The appointment also aligns with KUMPUL’s broader direction, reflected in Reimagine Impact, the theme of KUMPUL Connect for Change Summit 2026.
Held on October 20–21, 2026, the summit brought together more than 1,000 participants from 16 countries, connecting representatives from government, businesses, investors, and entrepreneurial communities to explore opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.
Reflecting on KUMPUL’s future, Rudiantara emphasized the importance of continuously anticipating the evolving needs of Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“KUMPUL must always stay ahead of the curve. It must keep thinking about what else needs to be done moving forward,” Rudiantara said.
His perspective highlights a continuing challenge in ecosystem development: ensuring that existing initiatives, capabilities, and opportunities can work together to support long-term growth.
As Advisor, Rudiantara will contribute his experience and perspectives to KUMPUL and KUMPUL Impact as they continue advancing their ecosystem-building efforts.
The appointment reinforces a shared direction for both organizations: connecting entrepreneurs, institutions, and opportunities to strengthen Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and enable more inclusive, sustainable economic growth.
