Marking a decade of empowering Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, KUMPUL hosted the second edition of the Executive Lab Forum, a World Café discussion that unites executives from government, industry, and the nonprofit sector. With the theme “Circle of Connection: Building Sustainable Business Ecosystems,” the forum served as a collaborative space for dialogue on startup resilience, ethical Al, and sectoral inefficiencies.
This event marks a milestone as KUMPUL celebrates its 10th anniversary, launches the first KUMPUL Impact Report. Sarita Kinanti, Associate Director of KUMPUL Impact presented the KUMPUL Impact Report : A Decade of Growth, alongside the introduction of KUMPUL Impact: Yayasan Ruansa Dampak Bersama, a new entity focused on social impact in economic empowerment, gender equality, and improvement in quality of human resources.
KUMPUL’s Decade of Impact
Faye Wongso, Chairperson of KUMPUL, reflected on KUMPUL’s evolution from a Bali-based coworking initiative to Indonesia’s leading ecosystem enabler. She highlighted key challenges, including the need for deep-tech innovation and increasing female participation in the ecosystem, which KUMPUL has experienced through its program where it grew from 2.4% to 58.55%.
Faye emphasized, “The importance of ethical AI-based innovation, alternative funding, and the urgency of market expansion for the upcoming decade will get bigger. How can we, as stakeholders, contribute?”
Key Insights from the Forum

Connect for Growth: Strengthening Startup Foundations
Startups often prioritize rapid expansion over sustainability, leading to instability. With venture capital funding becoming scarcer, alternative financing models—such as blended finance, venture debt, and impact investing—are gaining traction. However, incubation programs, mentorship, and strategic partnerships remain crucial for startup success beyond just funding access.
Connect for Innovation: Ethical AI & Digital Inclusion
AI presents both opportunities and risks, including misinformation, algorithmic bias, and data security concerns. Experts underscored the urgency of AI ethics frameworks, digital literacy programs, and inclusive AI policies. Bridging the urban-rural digital divide is key to sustainable AI adoption, positioning Indonesia as a potential regional AI hub.
Connect for Ecosystem: Overcoming Fragmentation
Indonesia’s entrepreneurship ecosystem remains fragmented, with stakeholders often working in silos. To drive systemic impact, experts advocated for decentralized decision-making, regional innovation hubs, and inclusive financing mechanisms to empower entrepreneurs beyond Jakarta.
Closing & Launch of Tech Indonesia Advocates

ELF concluded with the launch of Tech Indonesia Advocates, a chapter of Global Tech Advocates (GTA), connecting Indonesia’s ecosystem to 42 global tech hubs. Leslie Sarma (APAC Lead, GTA), Faye Wongso, and Mega Prawita led the inauguration, with GTA Founder Russ Shaw reinforcing Indonesia’s potential as Southeast Asia’s digital powerhouse.
The Executive Lab Forum serves as a platform for executives to address various challenges in the Indonesian entrepreneurship sector, supporting sustainable initiatives from different stakeholders in empowering entrepreneurs through strategic discussions.
