KUMPUL and GDIN Forge Strategic Collaboration between Indonesia–South Korea Innovation Ecosystems

On 20 August 2025, KUMPUL welcomed the Global Digital Innovation Network (GDIN) and its delegation of sustainability-driven companies in Jakarta for a strategic visit and collaboration agenda. The event marked a milestone in building stronger innovation linkages between Indonesia and South Korea.

As South Korea’s flagship initiative for innovation diplomacy, GDIN operates under the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT). The network has established a presence in more than ten countries, focusing on fostering collaboration, unlocking opportunities, empowering talent, and driving innovation through strategic partnerships.

A Shared Vision for Innovation

The agenda opened with welcoming remarks from Faye Wongso, Founder and Chairperson of KUMPUL, followed by GDIN Managing Director, Sokjin Chang. Both emphasized the shared mission of enabling entrepreneurs to access global markets, expand knowledge exchange, and create joint opportunities that transcend national borders.

This shared commitment was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Representing KUMPUL, Managing Director Mega Prawita joined Jongkap Kim, President and CEO of GDIN, to officially strengthen cooperation. The MoU underscores joint efforts to advance research, facilitate investment, and support innovation ecosystems across Indonesia and South Korea.

The highlight of the visit was a showcase of South Korean companies under GDIN, each presenting solutions designed to address global sustainability challenges:

  • CarbonSDX Foundation: A collaborative platform driving the Mini Carbon Initiatives (MCI) to connect companies across Korea, Indonesia, and beyond in co-developing ideas and solutions for global climate action.
  • Tab Maru WASCO: Developer of eco-friendly water purifiers with 80 percent reduced electricity consumption, leading projects on water treatment for semiconductors and display manufacturing.
  • NAMUPLANET: IT services company focused on climate and carbon-reduction initiatives through big data platforms, AI-based anomaly detection, AML/FDS solutions, BI tools, AutoML, and carbon-emission tracking systems.
  • GEVR: Specialist in lithium-ion battery fire suppression, offering EV battery extinguishing systems to improve safety in clean mobility.
  • GE Co: Provider of advanced industrial solutions, including hydrogen compression, IoT disaster monitoring, precision agriculture, and autonomous mobility systems for sustainability and safety.
  • Dailtech: Manufacturer of concrete products such as roofing tiles, bricks, and blocks, providing durable materials for sustainable construction.

After the showcase, discussions unfolded between the GDIN delegation and Indonesian strategic partners, including AMMAN Mineral, Paragon, SPIL Ventures, BNI Ventures, and Komdigi. These conversations explored opportunities where South Korean innovations could meet Indonesia’s local needs and generate scalable impact.

For KUMPUL, the collaboration reaffirms our mission to democratize access to knowledge, facilitate global market connections, and enable joint research and investment. Together with GDIN, KUMPUL is paving new pathways for innovation that extend beyond borders and connect Indonesia with broader innovation ecosystems across Asia.
