Across different regions, students, educators, and small business owners are seeking practical ways to understand artificial intelligence. The AI Ignition Trainings were created to address this need through a series of sessions designed to introduce AI fundamentals, practical applications, and responsible use. The program is delivered with educational and community partners, including Yogyakarta State University UNY, Satu Tampa, and Moola, and is part of the AI Opportunity Fund Asia Pacific in collaboration with AVPN, supported by Google.org and the Asian Development Bank.
This collaboration provides participants from various backgrounds with opportunities to develop skills that support their studies, teaching roles, or business operations. The approach strengthens community capacity to use technology safely and with purpose.
Training Implementation at UNY
The English Language Education Study Program at FBSB UNY held the AI Ignition Training online from 25 October to 8 November 2025. A total of 250 students joined nine modules covering the introduction to artificial intelligence, productivity tools, prompt engineering, AI trends, large language models, and generative AI. The training lasted thirty hours and was led by Asa Wisesa Betari as the main trainer.
The sessions opened with facilitation from KUMPUL and were attended by program leaders and KUMPUL representatives. Each meeting gave participants the opportunity to select scenarios, practice AI tools, and present their work individually or in groups. This process guided them to build structured and critical thinking skills while working with digital content.
Dr. Nunik Sugesti, Head of the English Language Education Department, expressed her appreciation for the training and highlighted its relevance in strengthening digital literacy and responsible AI use in academic settings. Her remarks reflected the value of collaboration between educational institutions and technology ecosystems in expanding learning access.
Community Based Learning with Satu Tampa
At Satu Tampa, the AI Ignition Training was delivered to participants from entrepreneurship and informal education communities. The focus was on understanding AI fundamentals and using AI tools for content preparation, task planning, and administrative work. The modules followed the official structure of the program and offered case based exercises that match the needs of the participants.
This community oriented approach helped participants explore how AI can support daily tasks, including lesson preparation, social program development, and organizational activities. Through these sessions, they practiced building clear prompts and evaluating the outputs with care.
Strengthening Small Business Capacity through Moola
For Moola participants, the training centered on the use of artificial intelligence in the context of micro businesses. The modules covered product description writing, basic data processing, and marketing content development using AI tools. These sessions gave small business owners an understanding of how technology can support decision making and operational efficiency.
Participants practiced the nine core AI Ignition modules and applied them through individual assignments. The exercises were tailored to the needs of small enterprises involved in trade, services, or home based production.

Through its collaborations with UNY, Satu Tampa, and Moola, the AI Ignition Trainings show how structured learning can reach students, community members, and entrepreneurs through a unified framework. The program strengthens understanding of safe and responsible AI use and supports participants in identifying practical benefits for their study or work.
