Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming how people work and interact with technology. While automation creates new possibilities, it also reshapes existing jobs and skill requirements. To help societies adapt, the AI Ignition Training Program was launched as a regional initiative led by the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN), in collaboration with Google.org and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) through the AI Opportunity Fund: Asia Pacific.
The program builds digital readiness across the Asia-Pacific region by providing practical AI knowledge to those most affected by rapid technological change. In Indonesia, KUMPUL delivers the program through hands-on learning designed for micro and small business owners, educators, and young professionals.
Strengthening AI Knowledge Through Collaboration
The AI Ignition Training Program in Indonesia combines a Training of Trainers (ToT) model with six main learning batches, enabling participants to explore practical applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) through real tools and use cases.
The curriculum includes:
- AI and Machine Learning Fundamentals
- Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Prompt Engineering
- Responsible AI
Sessions are designed to build applied understanding of how AI can be used across business, education, and public service contexts. Training materials are delivered through a blended format that integrates online sessions, offline workshops, and ToT, ensuring the learning outcomes can be replicated by peer educators in different regions.
We carried out the implementation by partnering with multiple organizations such as PT Amman, Omega Education Group, GOTO, and local governments, among others. The collaboration included training activities held in Kudus, Jakarta, and Kuningan, West Java, engaging participants from vocational and high schools, MSMEs, and government offices.
Participants who completed the program received certification supported by AVPN, Google.org, and ADB, recognizing their participation and competency in applying AI concepts introduced through the training modules.
