Morning Pitch Asia Returns in Indonesia with a Green Vision

Morning Pitch Asia, a weekly startup pitching platform born in Japan in 2013 by Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support, has long served as a bridge between innovators, investors, and corporations. Since its inception, the event has expanded across Asia, and in 2025, it will return to Indonesia, spotlighting sustainable and green technologies. With global momentum for energy transition and sustainable economies intensifying, Indonesia, renowned for its rich biodiversity, abundant natural resources, and ambitious climate goals, presents itself as fertile ground for green innovation. The convergence of local entrepreneurs and international players sets the stage for Indonesia to emerge not just as a consumer of solutions, but as a source of them.

Indonesia’s Green Tech Market Shifts from Ambition to Acceleration

Indonesia’s green technology market is accelerating rapidly, supported by strong government targets for renewable energy. The renewable energy installed capacity, currently at about 19.48 GW in 2025, is forecast to more than double to 51.45 GW by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of roughly 21.44%. In terms of energy output, the country generated about 52.33 terawatt-hours (TWh) from renewable sources in 2024, with expectations to reach 112.99 TWh by 2033, at a CAGR of nearly 8.93%. Policy changes mirror this growth; Indonesia’s new electricity-supply plan (RUPTL) is targeting that around 70% of new power capacity will come from renewables, raising the share of renewables in the national generation mix from about 12% in 2024 to roughly 35% by 2034.

The startup ecosystem is matching this ambition. There are already around 300 clean-tech startups active in Indonesia, many of which have progressed to Series A funding rounds. Solar energy is particularly vibrant, with more than 130 solar startups or firms spanning rooftop solar, utility-scale solar, and hybrid solutions. Beyond solar, the momentum extends to waste-to-energy ventures, circular economy platforms, and infrared-quality monitoring technologies. Morning Pitch Indonesia 2025 underscores this trajectory by showcasing the readiness of local startups not only to serve the domestic market but also to respond to global environmental challenges, positioning Indonesia as a green innovation hub that is increasingly on the international radar.

Four Startups Prove Sustainability Can Scale Across Sectors

At Morning Pitch Indonesia 2025, four standout startups embodied the breadth and depth of green tech innovation:

  • CarbonEthics: Focusing on blue carbon ecosystems, peatland protection, and biodiversity conservation, this startup uses climate-tech tools to safeguard environments with high carbon sequestration potential.
  • Jubelo: With a tech-driven model for waste management, Jubelo is building toward a Zero Waste ecosystem, optimizing collection, processing, and community participation.
  • Nafas: Combines AI and IoT to monitor air quality, especially indoor air, delivering data-driven insights for efficiency and health risk mitigation.
  • Surplus Indonesia: A recommerce platform that gives surplus food and products a second life, reducing waste, maximizing resource use, and engaging consumers in circular economy practices.

These four represent multi-sector innovation that ties directly to the SDGs, specifically Climate Action, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption & Production, and Life on Land/Aquatic Life. They also appeal strongly to investors who prioritize impact alongside financial returns, as well as to corporations aiming to enhance their sustainability credentials or reduce environmental risk.

Deals Begin Where Pitches End: Building Investor-Startup Bridges

On 30 April 2025, Morning Pitch Indonesia brought together over 20+ corporations and investors onsite, along with 30+ international participants joining virtually. This mix of domestic and global stakeholders underscores the event’s growing role as a connector. In this place, promising green tech ventures can access capital, mentorship, markets, and cross-border partnerships.

The event is organized by KUMPUL as a strategic partner to Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support, with ERIA serving as venue partner. Such collaborations underscore institutional support, both local and regional. Through Morning Pitch, Indonesian green tech startups are being positioned not only in a national context but also in one that connects to Japan, Asia broadly, and global investors interested in sustainability and impact.

Indonesia’s Green Innovators Step Onto the Global Stage

Morning Pitch Asia-Indonesia confirms that Indonesian green tech startups are no longer just making promises, they are producing concrete solutions with potential global relevance. This event is more than a sparkling showcase; it is a catalyst for systemic collaboration among founders, corporates, impact investors, and policymakers.

Looking forward, the scaling of these startups will depend on stronger regulatory clarity, more consistent financing (especially for growth and scale-up phases), infrastructure support, and international linkages. For corporates and investors who are serious about sustainability, joining the following editions of Morning Pitch isn’t just an option, it’s an invitation to help shape a future where innovation, environment, and economy grow together.

Corporations and investors committed to sustainability missions are encouraged to engage with the next Morning Pitch Indonesia, whether through partnership, investment, mentorship, or co-creation. Together, we can make Indonesia not merely a recipient of green technology, but a hub in the global green innovation ecosystem.
